→Direct motion
Motion in the usual forward direction along the zodiac.
The physical explanation
Direct motion means increasing geocentric ecliptic longitude. It describes a planet’s apparent movement over time, rather than the daily rising and setting caused by Earth’s rotation.

Some modern Western astrologers associate direct motion with a more outward expression of a planet’s symbolism. This is an interpretive convention, not a measured physical effect.
